The ethos of medicine is primum non nocere or first do no harm. This is a principle that is held dear in this practice. All consultations and views are honest, patient-centred and evidence-based. In this practice, surgery isoften the last resort.
Management plans and surgeries are based on the latest technologies, most up-to-date literature and importantly, individualised to the patient. The practice understands that each person is unique with varying personalities, occupations, responsibilities and needs. We encourage patients to bring their partners and family members to allow robust discussions and-informed decision making.
The practice is also not age-discriminatory. As our population ages successfully, so does the body. As technology advances, more minimally invasive methods (MIS) confer the ability to reduce surgical time, complications, and maximise potential for recovery. Importantly, the practice is conservative. We believe that doing the absolute minimum while understanding the global problem and allowing the body to heal and realign is crucial in promoting stability and longevity of the spine and its neural structures. At times, the absolute minimum may seem a lot. As a result, the practice has time for the patient.
We understand that decision making is complex and often, life altering. Every case is assessed with its positives, imperfections, non-surgical options and when appropriate, its surgical solutions. There are times however, when we must advocate strongly for surgery. This is when it represents the only viable option to restore and maintain the patient's ability to function, socialise and to be satisfied with life.
